Warm water has been used for therapeutic purposes since
ancient times particularly where the presence of natural
warm water has provided an opportunity for development of
spas.
In thermal areas in some parts of the world such as New
Zealand or Iceland, the water appears as geysers or bubbles
up in hot mud.
Such sources sulphur and other minerals. Ground water is
forced to the surface after permeating deeply placed, and
hence hotter, rock formations.
