Sports Electro Therapy

Is a very clinical form of therapy, there are many types of Electro therapy in practice today, but the most common forms used for sports injuries in the reduction of acute and chronic pain, tissue healing and strengthening are

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is when wavelengths penetrate into the muscle causing an effect on the cells and tissues, this leads to pain relief, decrease in joint stiffness, increase blood flow and much more.

Ultrasound is the most widely used form of electro therapy for both its therapeutic effects and safety.

Interferential

The second most common form of electro therapy is called "Interferentential" therapy which is essentially a medium frequency that rhythmically increases and decreases in amplitude, which in turn reacts with the muscles and tissues resulting in pain relief and increased range of movement.

For the best results in Sports Injuries and rehabilitation is a combination of an ultrasound and interferentenitial.

Even though the mechanics of ultra sound are different to interferentenitial the therapeutic effects are similar

  • Relief of aches and pains
  • Relief of Joint stiffness
  • Reduced swelling/increased blood flow
  • Increased recovery time from injury
  • Increased circulation
  • Relief from muscle spasms, tight tendons and much more.

Conditions that respond well to Electro Therapy are:
  • Lower, middle and upper back aches and pains
  • Neck Pain
  • Soft and deep tissue injuries
  • Arthritic conditions
